Study of the deposition of a cobalt(II)tetrasulfophthalocyanine layer at gold surfaces in alkaline solution
The electrodeposition of Co(II)TSPc at gold electrodes was studied in strong alkaline medium by cyclic voltammetry. It was observed that a coverage of more than 95% was obtained, based on the decrease of the gold oxide reduction peak. Reversible Co(III)/ Co(II) and quasi reversible Co(II)/Co(I) redox systems of CoTSPc were observed and different peaks showing electrocatalytic activity for oxidation of Co(II)TSPc could be attributed to the Pc ring. Based on the occurrence of some peaks in the first scan numbers and the appearance/disappearance of other peaks, a hypothesis regarding the mechanism of electrodeposition is formulated.
