Effects of microbubbles on surface pressures of a sphere
The surface pressure of a stationary spherical particle in an upward liquid flow was measured in this study. Specifically, the microbubble drag reduction effect on the particle was examined in light of the surface pressure variation. The microbubble drag reduction expressed in terms of the pressure coefficient of the particle is significant. Furthermore, the turbulence intensity in the turbulent wake of the sphere was also measured using laser Doppler velocimetry. The turbulence intensity with microbubbles is about 10% lower than that without microbubbles.
