Search for a catalyst for alkylation of phenols by olefins
Alkylphenols (AP) containing branched alkyl groups in the ortho position to the OH group and their various functional derivatives can effectively protect hydrocarbon fuels, lube oils, rubber, and other polymer materials from oxidation [1-3]. They are obtained with high (greater than or equal to90%) selectivity, usually, by reacting phenol with olefins in the presence of aluminum triphenolate as catalyst [4].
