Terphenyl derivatives have been known to show a variety of biological, optical, and electrical properties. Asymmetric p-terphenyls are prepared by sequential cross-coupling reactions of the polymer-bound bromobenzenesulfonate in moderate to good yields. This approach seems to be useful for the preparation of various non-funtionalized terphenyls and oligophenyls.
