Renewable energy sources in Guadeloupe
The following types of renewable energy are utilized in Guadeloupe: solar energy, wind energy, water energy, biogas, combined energy sources as well as geothermal energy. Attention is drawn to a specific geographic setting as well as the social and economic situation which influence the demand for energy in this department of France. Steps taken by the department administration to increase the interest of local communities in the use of renewable energy sources are presented. Current and future trends in the production of heat and electric power are discussed and special attention is paid to the role of geothermal energy.
