The Preparation of Super Water and Oil Repellent Nano/Micro Composite Particles
The durable super water and oil repellent composite particles were obtained by "grafting-from" polymerization with azo initiator chemically bonded on silica surface and surface radical-chain polymerization of fluorinated monomer. The synthesis of attached layers and the characterization by XPS(X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy), SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy), contact angle measurement, and test of dispersion in water are described. In order to obtain quantitative information about the graft densities of the covalently attached polymer monolayer, the particles were investigated by TGA(Thermogravimetric Analysis). Contact angle data informed that the composite particles with super water and oil repellent properties could be obtained with contact angle of more than 150。and 130。 according to water and methylene iodide, respectively.
