Wasted hydrofluosilicic acid is reacted with water glass in order to obtain pure silica. Also, Na-magadiite is synthesited using this pure silica at optimized conditions. Synthetic Na-magadiite is intercalated layered silicate using Distearyldimethyl ammoniumchloride(DDAC) by ion exchange reaction. XRD analysis of samples resulted in well-ordered large d-spacing of 48-96 ~ 51.26A. DDAC-magadiite increases thermal stability and this impressed physical properties will be helpful to manufacture polymer-clay nanocomposite.
