The issue of high flux correction in multicomponent reactive and ordinary distillation
The paper gives further computational evidence for the argument presented earlier that the high flux correction can be ignored when simulating multicomponent reactive and ordinary distillation even when there are heat effects present, which make the interfacial mass transfer highly nonequimolar. The issue of high flux correction is examined through a case for producing methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) by simulating a plate of a reactive distillation column. The simplification in numerical solution achieved by ignoring the high flux correction is also inspected from the perspective of using an approximation method for matrix functions.
