A kinetic method to calculate the amount of hydrocarbon generated from kerogen
In this article, thermal simulation experiments on kerogen degradation have been carried out by using Rock-Eval apparatus at different constant heating rates. A method based on the kinetics of kerogen degradation is proposed that offers a quantitative approach to the evaluation of hydrocarbons generated from different source rocks in the various parts of the basin. By using this method, the fractional conversions of natural kerogen evolution and thus the amount of hydrocarbon generated were calculated for different burial units of Tu-Ha basin.
