Instruments for measuring the octane number of gasolines in the process stream
Internal combustion test engines previously calibrated with a standard mixture of isooctane and n-heptane are traditionally used for measuring the octane number of gasolines. This method does not provide for continuous monitoring of the quality of gasolines in the process stream. In addition, it requires a relatively long time and important resources.
