Ultrafast carrier dynamics in CdSe nanocrystalline films on crystalline silicon substrate
We report on photoluminescence dynamics in CdSe nanocrystalline films on silicon substrate prepared by chemical bath deposition. The photoluminescence spectra and dynamics are influenced strongly by carrier trapping. The short (5 ps) effective decay time of the band edge photoluminescence in CdSc nanocrystalline films on silicon substrate is interpreted in terms of carrier trapping in combination with the transfer of hot carriers from the silicon substrate to the film. We have demonstrated room-temperature electroluminescence of the samples and measured the diode-like current-voltage and electroluminescence intensity-voltage characteristics.
