A new method of on-line measurement of buffer capacity and alkali consumption rate of a fermentation process
A software sensor was developed for the measurement of buffer capacity and alkali consumption rate from the pH response signals generated by an automatic pH controller. On-line measurement of the two parameters was demonstrated in the cultivation of Escherichia coli in a 5-l jar fermentor.
