Solubility of anthracene in two binary solvents containing toluene
The solubility of anthracene in two mixed solvents toluene + 2-propanol and toluene + heptane is studied in the temperature range 293-323 K. The experimental data are fitted using UNIQUAC and modified UNIFAC. The comparison between experimental and predicted solubilities for the two models is quite reasonable with an average prediction coefficient between 0.995 and 0.971. More simplified models of combined NIBS/Redlich-Kister and modified Wilson are also used, comparison of experimental with predicted solubilities is equally high with an average prediction coefficient between 0.994 and 0.979. Model parameters in all the studied models are fitted as a second order polynomial in temperature.
