Characterization of Solid Acids by Spectroscopy
Solid acids may exhibit Bronsted as well as Lewis acid sites which are responsible for the activity of these materials in acid catalyzed reactions. The present contribution reviews and summarizes recent developments in the spectroscopic characterization of the acid sites in solids. In particular, NMR, IR, EPR and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic techniques are discussed.
