Selective Monochlorination of Naphthalene over Zeolite Catalysts
The liquid phase chlorination of naphthalene with gaseous chlorine to monochloronaphthalenes in high yields using K-L zeolite as catalyst is reported. The zeolite, K-L, catalyzed chlorination of naphthalene is found to be more selective than the conventional catalyst, FeCl3, catalyzed chlorination.
