Rate constants for reactions of O(D-1) with partially flnorinated ethers, E143A (CH3OCF3), E134 (CHF2OCHF2), and E125 (CHF2OCF3)
The rate constants for the reaction of O(D-1) with CH3OCF3 (E143a), CHF2OCHF2 (E134), and CHF2OCF3 (E125) have been measured at 298 K using the relative rate method relative to CH4, CH3F, and CH2F2. The results are discussed with respect to previous literature data. For E143a, E134, and E125 the 298 K rate constants have been determined to be (1.0 +/- 0.3) x 10(-10), (2.4 +/- 0.7) x 10(-11) and (1.5 +/- 0.6) x 10(-11) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1), respectively. We find that reaction with O(D-1) may be a significant loss mechanism for E125 and E134 in the atmosphere.
