A pure energy analysis is essential for evaluating the quality of energy conversion; Only an exergonic analysis provides information on the degradation of energy due to exergy losses during energy converting processes. The article indicates which main influencing factors are responsible for the exergy losses during the combustion and heat transfer and which procedures can contribute towards their reduction and thus towards more rational energy utilization.
