COMBUSTION OF RESIDUES OF THE PAPER-PRODUCTION IN A CIRCULATING FLUIDIZED-BED COMBUSTOR
The expansion of waste paper preparation in the Paper Mill Perlen (Switzerland) from January 1991 onwards, required suitable disposal possibilities for the residues of the production thereby created. The decision was made for the construction of a circulating fluidized bed combustion plant with an integrated steam generator. This combustion technology enables the burning of fuels of inferior quality with a high water and ash content. The process steam produced contributes to the electricity supply of the paper mill via a turbine and the waste steam is used for the paper production. The required limits of emission values are not only maintained - without a following flue gas clean up plant -, but they can even be kept below the limits. Experiments with the plant show that the circulating fluidized bed combustor is suitable for a low-emission waste wood combustion. Presented are the conception of the plant and its components, performance and emission behaviour, as well as experiments with the combustion of waste wood.
