A template-like model, which was an aniline salt formed with beta-naphthalene sulfornic acid (beta-NSA) as a dopant, was proposed to interpret the formation mechanism of polyaniline (PANI) microtubules doped with beta-NSA by a template-free method. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction measurements confirmed this model.
