Model-Based Optimization of Equipment and Control for Heat-Flux Measurements in a Laboratory Fermenter
The measurement of microbially-produced heat in standard laboratory fermenters was studied with the help of a mathematical model describing the heat flows. The improvements that were indicated by the modeling work were implemented in the experimental setup. Tests showed that both the standard deviation in the heat measurement and the response time for the experimental setup improved through use of the modeling results.
