Diffusion Behavior of Ammonium in Xanthan Gum Solutions
Ammonium diffusivity in xanthan solutions drastically decreases as xanthan concentration increases. The D-AP/D-AW ratio was practically independent of pH and a weak function of the ionic strength. This diffusional behavior is a typical case of the diffusion of a small molecule in a non-Newtonian macromolecular solution.
