The pseudo-fluid model applied to three-phase fluidisation
The pseudo-fluid approach is applied to the prediction of phase hold-up in three-phase fluidised systems in the dispersed Row regime. The liquid and gas phases are treated as a single homogeneous fluid whose characteristics (density, viscosity and flow rate) are determined independently. This enables well-established correlations for two-phase, fluid-solid systems to be applied to three-phase systems leading to predictions for the solid, liquid and gas phase hold-ups in good agreement with experimental behaviour observed for solids suspension in air-water and other less common gas-fluid mixtures.
