Synthesis of terpene esters by an immobilized lipase in a solvent-free system
Geraniol and citronellol were esterified with short and medium chain fatty acids using an immobilized lipase of Rhizomucor miehei (Lipozyme IM) in a solvent-free system. The optimum temperature and substrate concentrations for the reactions were 55 to 60 degrees C and 0.1 M respectively. Yields ranging from 96 to 99% molar conversion were achieved after 6 h.
