Decolorisation of artificial dyes by peroxidase from the white-rot fungus, Pleurotus ostreatus
The Remazol Brilliant Blue R (RBBR) decolorising peroxidase of Pleurotus ostreatus decolorised several recalcitrant dyes. Eight different types of dyes, including triphenyl methane, heterocyclic, ate, and polymeric dyes, were decolorised to some extent. The best decolorisation was obtained for Bromophenol blue (98 %). The enzyme oxidised triphenyl methane and azo dyes effectively. However, heterocyclic dyes, Methylene Blue and Toluidine Blue O were decolorised only by 10 %.
