Beta-Glucosidase-Catalyzed Condensation of Glucose with 2-Alcohols in Buffer-Saturated Alcohols
2-Alkyl beta-D-glucosides with alkyl chain lengths of C6 to C8 were synthesized through condensation by mixing solid beta-glucosidase and glucose with buffer-saturated 2-alcohols. The yields in the reaction system were higher than those in the conventional two-phase system. The condensation product between glucose and racemic 2-hexanol was shown to be a mixture of enantiomers of 2-hexyl glucoside.
