An isolate of Arthrobacter sp. produced the sarcosine oxidase which was purified to homogeneity. SDS-PAGE indicated that the enzyme was composed of four dissimilar subunits with molecular weights of 106, 43, 24, and 15 kDa. The genes encoding the four subunits of sarcosine oxidase were isolated and expressed in E. coli.
