Immobilization of Candida-Rugosa Lipase in Lyotropic Liquid-Crystals and Some Properties of the Immobilized Enzyme
Lipase from Candida rugosa has been immobilized in lyotropic liquid crystals consisting of a nonionic surfactant, hexane, and aqueous buffer with the enzyme. The kinetics of butyl butyrate synthesis, diffusion effects, and enzyme stability were investigated. Some basic rules have been formulated for a rational medium design in liquid-crystalline matrices.
