Effects of Dimethyl-Sulfoxide on Heavy-Chain Monoclonal-Antibody Production from Plant-Cell Culture
The addition of 4% (v/v) dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) increased the total production of heavy chain monoclonal antibody (HC MAb) in suspension culture of genetically modified Nicotiana tabacum by three fold. This may be due to stabilization of HC MAb in the presence of DMSO by forming hydrogen bonds with proton-donor groups on protein molecules.
