Thermoplastic and Spectroscopic Properties of Amorphous Fluoropolymer Thin-Films
Infrared absorption spectra are reported for fluoropolymer films similar to 0.2 mu m thick produced by vacuum pyrolysis of high polymers of the trade name Teflon AF (Teflon amorphous fluoropolymer). Films were formed using source powders of several mole fractions for the two constituent monomers. Infrared features are identified and interpretations are given for the variation in features with source material composition. Thermal stability and glass transition data in nitrogen are reported for several of the polymer film and source materials. Methods for estimating the stoichiometry in evaporated samples are given.
