The Kinetics of Bulk-Polymerization of Itaconic Acid-Derivatives .3. Mono-2-Diphenyl and Mono-4-Diphenyl Itaconates
The synthesis and characterization of mono-2-diphenyl and mono-4-diphenyl itaconates have been carried out. The course and kinetics of the isothermal bulk, polymerization of mono-2-diphenyl and mono-4-diphenyl itaconates have been studied by differential thermal analysis (DTA). The initiator used was alpha,alpha’-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN). The polymerization has been investigated at temperatures between 100 and 150-degrees-C. The reaction order with respect to the monomer, the activation energy and frequency factor of the polymerization process hive been determined. The kinetic order with respect to the monomer shows that the polymerization mechanism is influenced hy the diffusion process.
