The organization of DELTAG, DELTAH and DELTAS according to stepwise coordination or displacement reactions for the complex formation equilibria of Ag(I) or Cd(II) in aqueous solution shows the intervention of specific factors in the overall formation parameters which cannot be accounted for by linear models.
