Two-dimensional protonic conductor SnCl2 center dot 1.5 H2O comparison with SnCl2 center dot 2 H2O
Two hydrates of SnCl2, the dihydrate SnCl2(OH2). H2O and the less known SnCl3. SnCl(OH2)(2). H2O are compared, with emphasis on the properties connected with their protonic conduction: H-bonded network, conductivity and proton NMR. Similarity between the two hydrates in the H-bonded network is noticed but no phase transition is detected in the lower hydrate.
