Electrical conductivity in Al-2(WO4)(3)-Al2O3 composites
The electrical properties of Al-2(WO4)(3)-Al2O3 composites containing various amounts of alumina are characterized by AC and DC methods. The composites with different Al2O3 content were prepared by a new unconventional technique, the thermal decomposition of solid solutions of Al-2(WO4)(3-x)(MoO4)(x) (x = 0-3). The electrical conductivity of the trivalent cationic conducting compound Al-2(WO4)(3) can be improved by this method by about 1-2 orders of magnitude. The maximal enhancement effect of the conductivity is observed for alumina amounts of 50-60 mol.%. This increased electrical conductivity is found to be predominantly due to ionic migration.
