Etch pits morphology on p-hydroxyacetanilide single crystals
The investigation of etch pits on p-hydroxyacetanilide crystals in various solvents has been carried out in order to study the reaction front development during dissolution of molecular crystals. It has been shown that anisotropic development of etch pits coincides with the arrangement of hydrogen bonds in the crystal. The extent of the reaction front anisotropy was less for the solvents with higher donor number, and the shapes of etch pits on the (010) plane changed from elongated to hexagonal.
