Oxide Formation on Au(111) - An in-Situ STM Study
The anodic oxidation of a Au(lll) electrode in sulfuric acid was investigated by in situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and compared to previous work in that field. The oxide formation was monitored and the topography of the oxide layer, as well as of the gold surface after oxidation-reduction cycles, was imaged.
