Polysilane comb polymers, which incorporate ethoxyethoxybutane in the side chain of the polymer, have been used as polymer electrolyte hosts. The polysilane polymers solubilize lithium triflate, allowing polymer electrolytes of a range of compositions to be prepared and studied. [(CH3CH2OCH2CH2O(CH2)(4))Si(CH3)](n) containing lithium triflate at a concentration of four oxygens per lithium cation has a room temperature ionic conductivity of 1.2 x 10(-7) S cm(-1).
