Microstructure of Ca-Doped Barium Cerate Electrolytes Bace1-Xcaxo3-Alpha (X=0, 0.02, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15)
The effect of doping BaCeO3 with CaO on the densification, microstructure and electrical conductivity of ceramic samples has been investigated. In order to achieve sintered samples with > 90% of theoretical density and with a well developed microstructure, dopant levels x less than or equal to 0.05 and a sintering temperature T greater than or equal to 1450 degrees are necessary. At higher dopant levels densities are lower, grain growth is inhibited and microstructures are rather porous and only weakly developed.
