Transport Number Determination by the Concentration-Cell Open-Circuit Voltage Method for Oxides with Mixed Electronic, Ionic and Protonic Conductivity
Wagner’s theory of mixed conduction has been applied to foreign and native species simultaneously in determining the open-circuit potential (OCV) of a concentration cell. We present general derivations for the OCV for mixed conductors containing protonic species, native ions and electrons and propose experiments for discriminating transport by the various species.
