The application of a digital imaging technique to the measurement of the radii of growing spherulites in PEO and PEO(8):Li triflate is described. The relevance of these measurements to the determination of the kinetics of crystallisation, and hence to the influence of preparation conditions on the morphology of polymer electrolyte films is discussed.
