A Zirconia Amperometric Pump-Gauge Sensor Operated in Gases Containing SO2 or No - Leakage and Electrode Overvoltage Studies
The use of zirconia amperometric pump-gauge sensors with reference electrodes for the qualitative and quantitative determination of oxygen, sulphur dioxide and nitric oxide was investigated. Corrosion of platinum electrodes occurred during operation in SO2 and NO atmospheres. Results suggested that electronic conduction was induced in the zirconia during operation in SO2-containing atmospheres. Characteristics in NO mixtures demonstrated encouraging conformance with theory.
