IT Power is developing an innovative design of mechanical water-pumping windmill. This article describes this machine, in particular the innovative epicyclic oval reciprocating transmission system, and discusses the results of the test programme carried out to dale on the preliminary prototype. The potential and prospects for technology transfer to developing country manufacturers are reviewed.
