The similar composite systems, with subsystem matrices and interconnection matrices having similar structures, are more general than symmetrically interconnected systems. First the mathematical narrative for the similarity is presented, then the similar structural information is utilized to change the control design problem for similar composite systems to solving two low-order algebraic Riccati inequalities, so the control design is remarkably simplified.
