LOW-RESOLUTION H-1-NMR THE ULTIMATE TOOL FOR ACCURATE DETERMINATION OF HYDROGEN CONTENT IN PETROLEUM-PRODUCTS
A low resolution pulsed NMR spectrometer has been used to determine total hydrogen content for a wide range of petroleum cuts. Excellent agreement has been found with the theoritical amount of hydrogen on pure compounds and the repeatability of the method is 0.03%. The validation of the method has been done on a very large range of petroleum products, including straight run, cracked, hydrotreated and hydrocracked mid-distillates, vacuum gasoils, heavy crudes, straight run and hydrotreated atmospheric residues, representing 121 samples and a hydrogen consumption range during processing from 0.1 to 2.5 wt.%.
