Experience from operation of syn-gas and hydrogen production plant. Evaluation of the stability of molecular sieves in PSA unit.
A ten years experience from operating of synthesis gas and hydrogen plant with PSA system has been presented. The syn-gas and hydrogen for oxo alkohol synthesis process are manufactured from natural gas with the dual system consisting of steam/oxygen conversion under atmospheric pressure, CO2 washing under elevated pressure, high temperature shift conversion of the part of syn-gas stream followed by carbonate scrubbing for CO2 removal and hydrogen purification with the PSA system. The adsorption properties of molecular sieves received from different cross-sections of PSA adsorbers were examined. The results indicate the adsorption capacity of adsorbents after long time service in PSA hydrogen purification unit differs only slightly from adsorption capacity of fresh adsorbents.
