The primary object of this article is to report on the experience gained during 7 years of operation of a top-fired primary reformer using heavy fuel oil. Experiences using tis kind of fuel ar every rare because very few installations worldwide are prepared to use it. In addition, some information on the background of the plant on the plant modifications carried out will be given.
