A Comparative-Study of Single and 2-Stage Processes for Methane Production from Tomato Processing Waste
Separation of acidogenic and methanogenic stages during anaerobic digestion of tomato processing waste (TPW) has resulted in 80% of carbon conversion to total gas (65% methane) of 0.8 m(3)/kg volatile solids. The process yielded a 40-50% increase in the rate and yields of methane and total gas production over the single stage process under similar conditions.
