POWER ELECTRONICS RESEARCH-AND-DEVELOPMENT FUNDED IN THE UK BY SERC AND DTI
The most prominent UK government support for power electronics research originates from the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) and the Science & Engineering Research Council (SERC). The importance of the power electronics sector in the UK was recognised in 1989 by the establishment of a dedicated LINK programme. This LINK programme is jointly funded by SERC and DTI and is entitled Power Electronic Devices and Derived Systems (PEDDS). A number of important projects have been supported under this programme, some of which are already completed, and further proposals are being considered.
