Optimization of Hot Plate Welding for Series and Mass-Production
A single optimal parameter setting for hot plate welding is not possible because of the large number of plastics and fillers, different types of parts, and different demands on joints. Results of a program aimed at finding an optimization procedure are presented. It is shown that one of the procedures proposed in the past is not always valid. After considering alternative approaches, the general method of a statistical process optimization is shown to be best. A complete factorial experimental design with welding machine parameters is employed.
