Modifying polypropylene with a metallocene plastomer
Submicron dispersions of the plastomer, necessary for the cold-temperature impact modification, were achieved in a series of homopolymer polypropylenes having a wide range of melt-flow rates. Dispersion models, generated via rheological characterization and solubility parameters, showed that the interfacial tension between ethylene-butene plastomers and PP is very low.
