The results of an extensive series of studies on nickel dithiolenes dissolved in both dichloromethane and polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) are presented. The results show that it is possible to achieve a combination of a high nonlinear refractive index and a low linear and nonlinear absorption loss in an easily processed polymer.
